Heat Wave

"How will you find anything to wear with those shoes?" mother said.
"I will wear them with EVERYTHING." I responded. And that is exactly what I intend to do.

When I first laid eyes on these Jennifer Chou beauties, I could not decide between neon pink and neon yellow. It took me about three weeks to finally commit and pre-order the neon yellow Carmelos. After four days, I frantically emailed Solestruck begging them to change my purchase to neon pink instead. Luckily, the pinks were still available in my size and about two months later, they were at my doorstep and I never want to separate from them again. Obsessed.
I feel as though I can wear them with anything! Honestly. And that's not just to spite my mother and prove her wrong. (Which is something I would do..) I really just honestly feel like I can wear neon pink with everything!
I mean, as I've written about in a previous blog bost, I feel anyone can put together anything they want as long as the confidence wearing the outfit is undeniable, it will look amazing!

An intense heat wave has taken over Los Angeles. It has been about 110 - 115 degrees lately which requires me to take a minimum of three to four naps per day. It's been extremely difficult, but I somehow manage to squeeze them into my schedule :D haha
To get away from the heat, I took yet another trip to Venice beach. Luckily, that day was beautiful and slightly cloudy!

This week has been a complete disarray of indecisive weather in Los Angeles!
Luckily, I have lived here my entire life and this is not anything out of the ordinary.
Neither is pants-less-ness.

NO PANTS, EVER. PARTY! :D

I'm honestly quite proud that I have stayed consistent in blogging (so far).
Yes, I've only just begun and it's still early, but lasting this long is a pretty significant accomplishment for me.
OKAY - OKAY, reader.
I won't annoy you with words you won't read.. at least in this post. :)

Have a miraculous day!

On-time Update... sort of.

What is the unspoken rule for blogging?
Do blog posts generally get priority over other social media networks?
Is it customary to update the blog on the same day?
Or does the blog come afterwards?

Doing research, I've seen instances of all three scenarios.
I am a "learn-as-you-go" type of person and I have not yet mastered the timing of blogs in relation to Instagram posts. And I STILL haven't begun to update about my Lookbook.
How am I already behind? This soon?
Procrastination is an ugly little devil.
As of this moment, I am straddling between one post already up on Instagram and one new post that will be going up today. The route I am choosing to take is to do both of those outfits in this post.
Who knows what the future will hold as far as blogging. Ideally  I will eventually develop a system that works best for me. We'll just have to wait and see.

Not like anyone's reading ALL my rambling text anyway.
But if you are, hi! I like you, do you like me? :)

For an unknown reason, the skies of Los Angeles uncharacteristically imposed a gray undertone on all the land. I unknowingly ventured out my front door already dressed in jean shorts and a tank top when I was surprised to see nothing but clouds.
My solution? Just throw on a sweater, of course!

When there is plenty to do, where do you begin?

My "To-Do" list is steadily growing longer as every hour flies by and I sit here as though I have all the time in the world. Ever since I can remember, I've never been the kind of person to submerge myself into one isolated task and complete it from start to finish. Clearly, focus is one important trait I never properly learned. Embarking on a journey to "Adulthood Responsibilitya," the land where there is always something needed to be done, mostly consists of me simply beginning all endeavors at once. Productivity within each project is most successful in intervals to keep my unstructured mind focused for the longest amount of time possible.
Between you and me, dear reader, every blog post you see is no different. I follow these same guidelines for virtually every chore that crosses my path. If you picture me typing each entry as though these words comfortably transition from ideas in my mind and spill freely through my fingertips like distilled water, you are greatly mistaken. The process has more of a Silly-Putty-type consistency; it is fluid, but not quite. It takes time for concepts to travel from my inferior parietal lobule and become words that eventually reach your eyeballs. Instead of a smooth flowing motion, it is instead a gooey gelatinous material. It's the kind of substance that doesn't really know if it wants to be a solid or a liquid. It's Jell-O.

Have I lost you?

The point I was trying to make that got lost in all that mess was the segway to my next sentence. About 11 weeks ago was when I progressively began posting outfits on my Instagram account. I had done this a couple times before, but using my Instagram as a connection to the separate world of fashion and style came into fruition roughly 3 months ago. (Before that, my Instagram was just like any other account filled with photos of my everyday activities, which 99.99% of the time was me intoxicated) What changed 11 weeks ago? Life no longer stood in the way of my pleasure.
Simply, I stopped doing the things that did not make me happy.
Of course, there are always going to be priorities and necessities that will forever need to be addressed, but despite those, I found myself spiraling into melancholia and I was my own enabler. After turning 22 and completing the FINAL college finals I will ever have to stress over, I vowed to turn my life around and surround myself with positivity.
Sharing the outfits I put together day-by-day was one of those things.
  • THE POINT
The dilemma this has now caused for me:
Since the Instagram portion of my fashion blogging expedition began 11 weeks ago, while my blogger account was only fabricated less than 48 hours ago, should I include the existing Instagrammies? Or should this blog be new in every sense?
Also, I struggle with he same quandary for lookbook.nu.
My account has been in a cyber coma since I was a platinum blonde!

To fill in the enormous hiatus of my fashion novella or not? hm..

UPDATE:
After hours of contemplating, I've come to the conclusion that:
The best place to start is the beginning.
I fancied the idea that this could serve as a timeline exposing my metamorphosis, growth, and true demonstration of INconsistency as it comes to my choices in fashion.

Enjoy :)

  • April Fool's day, 2012.
    • The last activity my lookbook.nu account has record of before I was swallowed by the bermuda triangle, never to be seen or heard from again.
  • Reflection: Definitely an outfit I was proud of over a year ago. I remember when the asymmetric skirts became the new IT statement of 2012.
Current Grazielle does not understand why these shoes were paired with this skirt, but who's to say I will still feel the same tomorrow? Actually, in a couple hours.

  • From Instagram
  • Reflection: Not bad. I still wear these pants. A much simpler outfit than I would put together today, but not atrocious.
  • Details
    • striped sweater: Urban Outfitters
    • turquoise pants: BDG bellbottoms from Urban Outfitters
    • Jeffrey Campbell Mustard Lita

  • "How much demin is too much denim?"
  • Reflection: I have been looking for this shirt for a year now! This was the last time I ever wore it :(

    • high waisted skinny jeans: Forever 21
    • jean jacket: vintage, Rose Bowl Flea Market

The amount of time it will take me to dissect every photo seems beyond my limits.
Just enjoy this gallery of photos with limited text interruptions. Maybe I'll update and fill in the details some time in the future.

The following outfits were posted within the 11-month intermission I had previously mentioned. Why I decided to include images as far back as a year ago? I do not have the answer. I assumed I was much more ambitious than I truly am and thought to myself, "adding information for all these pictures is going to be a piece of cake!" After 22 years, I still do not know myself as well as you'd think.

The kimono I am wearing is vintage. Sadly, I do not have a photo that displays its true beauty: the back. There is an orange dragon in the center that makes me feel like the Khaleesi.

The one time I went to school on a Saturday by choice. I've had my fair share of Saturday Schools back when I was in high school. It was the price I paid for partaking is idiotic adolescent activities, but this particular Saturday was deliberately by my own doing. I figured it was time to get down to business my last semester of college and study in the library on the weekend. At least for one day.

I owe this dress to Walter Hunt - the inventor of the safety pin. I used about 948,126 of his miraculous little life savers to put this ensamble together and keep my unmentionables concealed. Thank you, Mr. Hunt! This one's for you!

Forever one of my favorite photos of myself.
Wishing that Polaroid film wasn't so expensive. The fact that I have a limited amount makes me stingy and excessively particular about what I photograph.

:D
I am often my own inspiration. Since I was a child, my mother dressed me up as though I was her own personal barbie doll. I believe the passion I've developed for style is derived from this conditioning I learned when I was a young girl.

Pairing white & white can never go wrong. Throw on statement shoes and a long lace robe and you are set. The day I wore this outfit was the same day I went to the Topanga mall without company for the first time. That may sound like a minuscule  insignificant accomplishment (if it can even be considered and accomplishment at all) but prior to this year, I admit I was a highly dependent person. My biggest fear is to be completely alone and lonely. Plus, the topanga mall is HUGE!
After this day, I realized, I enjoy spending time with myself and now, I often strive to be alone and get to know myself a little better.

It is currently 2:49 AM in California.
My eyes have been staring intently at this computer screen in my pitch-black bedroom for hours and I feel it is obvious the sandman has come to whisk me away with him to Sleepy-bye-bye Land multiple times. My sentences grow shorter and enthusiasm is drifting steadily. ("Grow shorter?" is this even correct? Something cannot grow if it is getting shorter, amiright?) Is this a small look into my future? Will sleepless nights blogging become part of my normal routine?

It was all a dream!
No pants ever Party!
Plus, if you can't decide which shoes you want to wear, why not just wear both? The world is your oyster, ladies and gentlemen! Do things that feel right!

If I am being completely honest, this outfit is probably one I am most disappointed by. The only part of this I am remotely proud of is the heels. But that isn't necessarily saying much since 3 weeks ago, these heels were ones I dreaded taking off my feet since I adored them so desperately. They are HOT fire just by themselves!
Why do I hate this outfit so much? Sure, it looks fine. The shirt, I do love. The skirt, if you remember, is the asymmetric maxi I last wore in the lookbook.nu post on April Fool's of 2012. I shifted the opening to the side, creating a high slit instead of an exposed front. From the outside, this attire looks seemingly put together. On the inside, I despise everything about it because it sparked absolutely ZERO creativity during its assembly.
It was just a skirt with a shirt and some shoes.
For me, the most enjoyable aspect of getting dressed is my process to express my feelings, my mood, and my creativity through the outfit I choose to wear.
And what I hate the absolute MOST about this is that I knew it would generate the most likes in the least amount of time. I was certain it was one of those outfits that is just.. normal. There was no risk. It had no character. There is nothing that sets it apart from the sea of clothes in a crowd.
I'm done. Anyway, here are your details:

Summer in California? Like every Hollywood movie and TV show set in California, a trip to Venice Beach is inescapable! After all, I live in LA. It would be uncharacteristic of me to neglect is famous attraction. Next stop? The Santa Monica Pier, of course.
You'll also notice my red Zara heels make yet another cameo. When I said I was obsessed with these stilettos, that was an understatement.

I was rummaging through my sibling's closet when this stringy metallic little number presented itself. I thought it was so ugly, it was beautiful and I used it as a challenge to create an ensamble using it. I matched metallic with metallic and this was the outcome. It's also possible this shirt isn't actually even a shirt at all.

Classic white tee and jeans! I LOVE this comfy look. Yes, it's extremely plain and vanilla. It was conjured up because this day happened to be laundry day for me so these were sad scraps laying on the floor of my closet drawers like Thanksgiving leftovers that no body wants. These jeans hadn't seen sunlight since I was in junior high school. Even though this outfit is so simple, it had just enough ME. In comparison to the previous drab outfit I relentlessly bashed for the same reason - being boring - the difference is, these jeans and this shirt combination is just something I feel more confident in. I love that these baggy jeans hang low at my hips separating me from the innumerable amount of females wearing their pants at their waist. I love the white heels with gold ankle cuff. The leather hat. Yes. I love the simple effortlessness. Just enough me.

I'd just like to take this moment and thank any one still here reading this even if you didn't take the time to read everything. (I know most of this blog is me rambling on endlessly) Although I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning editing photos and writing captions, the fact that you are here taking time out of your life to see what I'm up to fills me with gratitude. I am truly thankful and if I could adorn you with a big hug and a kiss to express my appreciation, I would. Assuming, of course, that was something you'd be keen to accepting. You don't have to be on my blogspot, but the fact that you are is beyond amazing to me.
Thank You from the bottom of my heart!
You have only one more photo of me to look at. Tired of seeing my face yet? :)

FINALLY!
We made it, guys! We did it! The final photo of the this blog post.

I told you. INconsistency.
Indecisive, erratic, temperamental, careless, narcissistic, lackadaisical.
Hi, I'm Grazielle.
