& so the procrastination begins...

I don't have an excuse for my absence.
I strived to consistently post blog entries in relation to posting on my Instagram - HONESTLY, I did! But.. you see.. whathadhappenedwas..

As I type this, I remember the sleepless night I spent updating this blog when I had about 83,674 pictures to upload. I had to keep that in mind as I forced myself to move my right hand slightly to the left, pick up that mouse, and begin editing photos to update this Blogger account. It would have so easily slipped into nonexistence if I hadn't done this the moment I did.
Procrastination is an evil little monster.

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE!
I hope all the Americans had a fantastic Independence Day :) And as for the rest of the world, I hope your day was just as amazing and you experienced metaphoric fireworks!

---INTERMISSION---
On July 5th, my spontaneous side suddenly kicked in and Tiffany and I decided to take a surprise unplanned mini-one-night-vacation to Las Vegas!

Upon arrival, we were ready to conquer The Vegas in less than 24 hours!

denim shorts: vintage
white t-shirt crop top: Brandy Melville
white high-waist pants: I can't remember! :( Somewhere online

To the ladies,
I usually make a point not to judge others by the shit that one wears. But this is where I draw the line:
Honestly. I'm aware that about 97% of all girls in Vegas walk around barefoot around the time the clock strikes 11:00 PM. Bluntly put, that is nasty. NASTY. Sure, I spend the majority of my life in heels and I've mastered the art of walking, running, dancing, jumping, ect. in platform stilettos, wedges, or anything that intensely arches my foot. I've become a professional at doing almost all every-day activities in heels for hours at a time, but if you cannot wear high-heeled shoes, simply don't. PLEASE. And I don't mean to call this girl I stumbled upon in the elevator out, but she clearly knew her stilettos were not her friend. Multiple bandages have been placed in, on, and around her toes prior to the clubbing festivities. This isn't her first time. Just DON'T WEAR THEM, BABE! You knew you were going to end this night barefoot before you left your hotel room.
To her and everyone else that does this: You don't have to wear heels. You DON'T! Get your freakum dress on, get your hurrr did, and rock the fuck out of some flats! You will not look as ridiculous as you currently do walking around barefoot with your heels in your hand, dangling by your waist because you don't know how to wear them properly.
Fucking stop.
This is to benefit YOU.

My apologies for that rant. It's one of my biggest pet-peeves!
AAAAAAANNYYYWAY........

Like all things, this amazing trip had to come to an end.
The aftermath:

"Vegas Withdraws" tied into exhaustion.
I'm itching to go back!

Because living in Southern California means you must be prepared for whatever type of weather may come. After an intense heat wave and being in Vegas while it was a scorching 118°, the slightly cooler temperature of around 88° was heavenly! Yes, a beanie and thick jacket was unnecessary, since 88° is still pretty hot, but I couldn't help it! I got excited! :) Autumn is my favorite season!

AAAND finally:
For "Throwback Thursday" (I still have a growing suspicion that Instagram has the power to make that a national holiday of some sort)
Clearly, a three year-old little girl from the 90's can look significantly cuter in an outfit like this than a 22 year-old adult from the suburbs who refuses to grow up. :p

&&&&& last thing, very quickly -

Last night, I was surprised to find a shout out from "Swaagshouts" on Instagram! Although I had never heard of them prior to this, I'd just like to show my gratitude! I am extremely humbled and appreciative that they took the time to share my picture with their followers! <3 I have no idea how they found me, but I'm thankful!
SOOOO, if you have time, go check them out and follow them! :D

INconsistency?

INconsistency...
INconsistency...

INconsistency!
INconsistency because ironically, inconsistency is the only state I seem to constantly remain in. I'm continuously IN inconsistency. Hence:
IN+inconsistency = INconsistency

My style embodies inconsistency. I love to dress up, dress down, dress diagonal, and every which way in between. Most of the time, you'll catch me wearing heels of some sort, but I definitely don't let my sneakers feel completely neglected while I strut down the supermarket aisles in 6-inch platforms. Once in a while, you have to let your Jordans breathe, right? Who says you can't rock a pair of bright orange Nike dunks with a form-fitting Alexander Wang V-Neck ensamble from the Fall 2013 collection? And why can't I wear a pair of comfortable and classic ankle-strap heels with some baggy sweatpants?
Committing to one single style, for me, is much too difficult. (Actually committing to one single anything is strenuous.) I enjoy having the freedom to do as I please and have the option of expressing the complete opposite fashion statement as the prior day.
I draw inspiration from any and everything that ignites some kind of interest within me and I am at my happiest when I ransack my closet, making a destructive mess mess of everything I own to put together an outfit, while I appropriately sing Frank Ocean: "A tornado flew around my room before you came. Excuse the mess it made..." I consider choosing an outfit an art. Stepping outside of your comfort zone and combining tops with bottoms plus accessories and adding footwear is exciting and exhilarating!

I urge anyone reading this to take a risk in wardrobe. Big or small.
I'm an avid supporter in anyone willing to break free of social norms and test their limits. Anyone can "pull off" any sort of outfit, hair style, make-up, ect. as long as the confidence when wearing it shines through. If you feel beautiful, you are beautiful and everyone can see that. And if they don't? Fuck them.

One promise to myself that I can undoubtably keep for the rest of my life is to consistently remain INconsistent.

Something that inspired me tonight?
Pictures of me from the 90's. The excitement I feel at this very moment just thinking about the outfit that will spawn from this trip down memory lane is indescribable.

Goodnight!

micro-glimpse

Starting a blog - a fashion blog - or any type of social media website gives me a slight feeling of anxiety. Anxiety that is driven by a human's innate desire to be accepted. The questions that emerge in my brain during these processes include:

  • Who will read/look at what I have to say/show?
  • Do people really need another fashion blogger?
    • Need. No one needs one single fashion blogger to begin with
    • Who am I to say what people need, really.
    • The circumstances for what people consider a "needed" entity is subjective, I suppose
      • So it is possible yet another fashion blog is needed to someone, somewhere out there
    • but.. I DIGRESS
  • How will people find my blog?
The question I strive to find the right answer to:
  • Why am I starting a fashion blog?
As cliché as this sounds, I truly believe fashion is an expression. (Surely, I am not the first person to say this.) One of the first things the public judges one another on is apparel. Outfits allow humans to give off an impression - minuscule sample of an impression - of who they are as an individual. Around the world, different fabrics, different materials, different styles, different color schemes, are all used in distinguishable characteristics that can determine a group of persons connected through a geographic location or religion, or even go as detailed into displaying a single individual's attitudes towards an issue of sorts.
Fashion (to me) is not just textile used to shield the public of nipples and genitalia because it is deemed socially inacceptable to show too much. Fashion is who you are. Or, at the very least, it is who you want others to view you as.
Time Magazine expressed that those born into Generation Y, (roughly between the early 1980's up to the 1999's) or as some call us, "The Millennials," hold the most narcissistic individuals of late.  Attributing to this tendency of excessive self-importance is the social network phenomenon. Is it truly a surprise that we're all so enthralled with our own physical appearance when hashtags under #selfie, #selfiesunday, and of course, #selfieNATION all have well over a million photos sorted within them? Would an entire blog dedicated to posts of myself further prove the egocentricity that consumes Generation Y?

And of course the BIG question:
  • WILL PEOPLE CARE?
Would a fashion blog push me into a life where I rely on validation from people I have never met to feed my ego? Would this eventually become a huge factor in determining my happiness?

-- No.
Not if I don't allow it to.
Being psychologically strong enough to handle everything society throws at you includes finding it within yourself to not let things like this take over your mind.
Why should I start a fashion blog? Because I want to. Because it would make me happy.
And who knows - my blog could possibly make someone out there happy as well. Someone still trying to find their own personal voice in fashion. Someone who's looking for inspiration. In the end, I suppose that's really all I'm trying to do: Inspire those who want to be inspired.
